Some information here => Windows 10 KB4023057 Surprise Patch Issued ahead of next Big Update

It is NOT right on ANY level that MS can FORCE these sort of things on your OS, regardless of the Settings that you have in place to the contrary.

I have just checked mine and I do NOT have it installed, well, NOT yet anyway.

Run the latest version of "Disable hijackers.cmd", and your OS will be better protected.

Does it modify the registry or disable specific services?

I already have the latest version, so maybe that is why I do NOT have it!

Using CMD script and VBScript to control Windows Update

Feel free to provide feedback there.

"Have the latest version" is not the same thing as "Have run the latest version".
One can have many things one has never used.

They have the right to do so whether you consider it right or not.

Yes I understand it is a script, which automates the process so to speak. But ultimately that script is either modifying the registry or disabling/modifying services or tasks.

The CMD script also disables system files that force updates and prevents the installation of tools that force updates.

I wonder whether members using third-party apps such as WAU Manager have KB4023057 installed automatically.

I have often disabled a program or process by just moving the .exe from the usual location and quarantining it in another folder or even on an external drive. I currently have Edge in quarantine lol.

I have windows paused until May 2022 so we shall see if they can override my settings and force updates. I'm quietly confident they will not.

I don't believe WAU Manager works on 20H2.
