Update wants to install same update

    Maybe you should just reinstall windows.

    Thanks. I was going to do that if necessary. But first I tried Brink's tutorial to refresh Windows which, if you're lucky, installs Windows including the newest update and leaves everything else alone. It worked and now my desktop is updating as normal- at least so far.

    I`m glad you tried a Repair install 1st, I suggested a clean install because your system sounded so messed up.

    A clean install is a PITA, in my opinion, very easy, but a lot of work.

    Glad you`re all fixed up

    Now once you get windows how you want it, everything updated, all your programs installed, your windows drive and any other drives you have fully optimized, start making images with Macrium Reflect Free Edition.

    It will save you from situations like this.
