Windows 10 education downgrade to Windows10 Pro

So I recently made a clean install from my legitimate copy of windows 8.1 Pro to windows 10 Pro, everything went good and the product was activated as the Pro version, but then one friend came to me with a windows 10 Education key and convinced me to try it, without question I entered the key(stupid I know). The system accepted the key and started the upgrade, after restarting my computer I opened the system settings and noticed that my windows wasn't activated. It turns out that the key that gave me my friend was already used by him and now I have a deactivated version of windows 10. So my question is if I can go back to the previous version of windows 10 Pro I already had, or do I need to do a clean install of windows 10?

From an elevated command prompt ("run as administrator" command prompt) type slmgr /upk

Then type slmgr /ato

hopefully that works. UPK uninstalls the current product key. ATO tries online activation.

If you do have to install Windows 10 Pro again, install it like an upgrade over the top of what you have and it will hopefully keep all your data and programs. Do NOT enter any product keys when asked! Just skip those steps.

You have the Windows 10 Pro ISO? Just run setup.exe from it while inside Windows, it will do an upgrade in place, not change any of your accounts or settings, and hopefully activate. Do NOT enter any product keys if it asks. Hopefully that will activate.
