Stop updates

How do you do that? This has been discussed many many times - searching tenforums is a great way to find information.

How I did it:

There are other 3rd party tools out there that claim to too.

You can also toy with Windows, disabling DHCP service breaks Windows Updates.

Block svchost.exe in the firewall, TCP via port 80 will do.

Create a nonexistent symlink:

Some people aren't very good at specifying searches. For example, one poster hoped to find something useful by searching tenforums for

Did you know?... a great way of finding tutorials here is a Google (e.g.) search like this:

Try it.. you're famous!

Did you happen note I carefully said 'e.g.' - i.e. the user can use what they wish?

SecurityXploded has a Windows Updater Disabler for both Windows 7 and Windows 10. While I know W7 WU Disabler works great, I have no experience with W10 WU Disabler, Anyone using SecurityXploded, remember this:
its menu gives you the next available choice[s], it does not "tell" what you just chose.
