Windows update missing from settings

Upgrade failures are typically handled by @zbook, @Tekkie Boy,
and need appropriate tools to be run for log collection.
You would need time, patience, and optimism. You would also need to post the exact text of any failure message.

Just for starters:
Start with basics- check your disk (Hard Disk Sentinel, Crystal Diskinfo), then if ok run
chkdsk c: /scan
from an admin command or Powershell prompt
and if ok similarly run
SFC /SCANNOW

Before reattempting, disable or uninstall any 3rd party security software, reset any telemetry tweak tools, remove any update blockers.
Run Setupdiag.exe (free from MS) and post the result - it attempts analysis of the upgrade log files.

Post a screenshot of your partitions on all disks using a 3rd party partition manager such as Minitool Partition Wizard.

You then need specialist help from people willing to spend a lot of time on this.

Please confirm you have downloaded an iso file of your current build.

By way of an outside probability, you could try an in-place upgrade repair install of 1909 with the internet disconnected (no updates at that time).

But then you miss out on all the fun... (for fun read stress, anxiety, frustration... tempered by possible eventual rejoicing, else more frustration given the time wasted...).

Thanks for all you help on this one guys, I decided to do a fresh install in the end, it’s gonna take a day or so to reinstall all the necessary programs I need, but it’s all going well t the moment. Once again, thanks for all your help.

You are VERY welcome.

At least you will end up with a nice clean, fast OS. If you have any problems them please come back and ask.

Ok, when you do, and before you start installing stuff and configuring like crazy, start a regular routine of disk imaging and periodically update that as you configure your sparkling new system. E.g. Macrium Reflect (Free/paid) + large enough external storage.

Plus enable System Restore and consider a daily scheduled restore point (see tutorial).

That way, when something goes amiss, you have a couple of ways back without needing assistance and without losing everything. You can then also recover even if your system disk - or any fully imaged disk- fails.

I’ve now got my new fresh install all working, but i want to load another version of windows 10 on a partition, but finding it impossible to boot from my USB, I’ve enabled Legacy in the BIOS and set it to boot from USB hard disk and/or USB CD/DVD drive, but nothing, i either get ‘can’t load windows as the partition is GPT, so I just Rufus too burn the ISO (GPT), but it still wont boot from the USB drive, I get an error saying ‘windows system32 boot winload.exe missing or corrupt’ 0000225 error code.
