Windows 10 20H2 Update Error 0xc1900104 Low Disk Space

Please help. My dad's Windows 10 Lenovo laptop has a hard drive with more than 250GB free space. So we don't know why it's getting "Error 0xc1900104 Low Disk Space" when trying to do the 20H2 Update via Windows Update.

Backstory- this laptop has been getting regular Windows 10 security updates, but wasn't offered 20H2 via Windows Update when everyone else was. So back in February, he tried using the Windows Upgrade Assistant, which finished the download but got stuck on "Installing 61%" for two whole days, he cancelled and gave up.

Then I was at his house a week ago and we uninstalled the old Upgrade Assistant, rebooted, downloaded the latest Upgrade Assistant, and ran it. Later that day it again finished the download but got stuck on "Installing 61%", he left it for 24 hours but it never finished, again he cancelled and gave up.

Then two days ago, his laptop was finally offered 20H2 via Windows Update! So he tried it from Windows Update, it finished downloading, got stuck at "Installing 61%" and gave "Error 0xc1900104 Low Disk Space". That's when I walked him through each of these:
    Code:
    net stop wuauserv
    net stop cryptSvc
    net stop bits
    net stop msiserver
    ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
    net start wuauserv
    net start cryptSvc
    net start bits
    net start msiserver
....And then reboot, go back to Windows Update, check for updates, offered 20H2 again, run it, download finishes and then again stuck on "Installing 61%" and gave Error 0xc1900104 Low Disk Space!

Please help! What is up with the "low disk space" error? There is more than 250GB free space... Why always 61% ? How can we get this done?

    Hello @tzr916

Download and run the SetupDiag Tool on this Pc:
    https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=870142

The tool creates a Logs.zip Package.

Usually the problem as far as I know is that the migration of the drivers does not complete and therefore gets stuck.

It can be caused by a driver himself.

Please also execute this command in the command prompt as administrator:

    Dism /online /get-drivers /format:table > "%userprofile%\desktop\drivers.txt"

That creates the drivers.txt file on the desktop.

When done upload the Logs.zip Package and the drivers.txt on wetransfer.com.

You can find instructions for the wetransfer website there:

Hmm, I can try that, may take some time. But I've been googling and everything I am seeing about this error has to do with the System Reserved partition not having enough space. Just don't understand if we need to clear out what's in the System Reserved partition or expand it, or if this is even the right track...

0XC1900104 MOSETUP_E_PROCESS_TIMEOUT The installation process did not complete within the required time limit.
    Source:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...ion-procedures

It is a Timeout error because the migration process does not continue.

It's not the first time I've dealt with the error.

Hence the request regarding the log files and the driver text file.

I would look at the files and then try to help you.

You are welcome to wait for someone else here with a different suggestion.

    Have a nice day.

I have to go offline now.

    Friendly greetings

    Same problem

For a months have problem with this upgrade. Every time it finished on 61% with message " feature update to Win 10, version 20H2 - Error 0xc1900104" Not mentioning Low Disk Space. Reading the Tekkie boy answer, I am close to agree with him that driver caused that problem. I have the audio sound Card Conexant SmartAudio HD, and the drivers cannot be upgraded (Conexant is dead).
I did what he explain to be done and will attach those files. If you can advice me what to do I'll appreciate.
