Surface Accessory Firmware Update and Windows Update errors

So firstly, I have a surface pro 5th gen running Version 2004 (OS Build 19041.928)

Every time I run Windows Update, it says "a current driver on your pc may be better than the driver we're trying to install. we'll keep trying to install." Now there's a lot of threads about this but the general problem seems to be that there's a driver I have that's conflicting with the update.

Bringing up Event Viewer, I see this (also in first attachment): "Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8024200B: Surface - System - 3/4/2017 12:00:00 AM - 1.2.108.0.".

However, I don't have a "Surface - System" in my Device Manager. That being said, after digging around I did manage to figure out what was causing this error: A device under "System devices" called Surface Accessory Firmware Update. Device Instance path is: "{5E9A8CDC-14AB-4609-A017-68BCE594AB68}\SURFACEPRO1725TYPECOVERFWUPDATE\7&A06EFAD&0&1"

The most recent information for this is: Device {5E9A8CDC-14AB-4609-A017-68BCE594AB68}\SurfacePro1725TypeCoverFwUpdate\7&a06efad&0&1 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match. (seen in second attachment) And it also has the same device date and version as the windows update.

So what do I do? I uninstall this device. Now windows update doesn't give an error about drivers, but it also doesn't install the Surface - System update either, it just says "up to date". The device I uninstalled also seems to help integrate surface type cover connections. If I scan for hardware changes in device manager or reattach my surface cover, it "reinstalls" itself as "SurfaceAccessoryIntegration{5E9A8CDC-14AB-4609-A017-68BCE594AB68}" but as an unidentified device with a (?) above it (see https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...0-ceab5fba7f1e).

When it is in the (?) "reinstalled" state, Windows Update throws the error again. I can "uninstall" this (?) state and it'll keep coming back.

I've tried downloading some drivers from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=55484 but it doesn't seem to work, if it's installed as a driver from one of the downloads on that site, Windows Update will throw the error again.

Trying to update this driver doesn't find anything online, and I'm not sure what manual update I should do. Sfc and chkdsk hasn't done anything either.

I can't seem to find a fix that will 1. Keep Windows Update working and 2. Remove the driver forever (but it comes back when I plug in my surface cover) or download a version that doesn't brick Windows Update. Any suggestions?

So I decided to just use wushowhide to hide it... Now I have two questions:

    1. Would other updates have installed anyways if I didn't hide it and kept the error?
    2. Can I delete wushowhide now? Or does it need to stay to work?
