Should I update to 20H2 or wait for 21H1?

thank you for that information. The reason I say Vista was a disaster is I bought a new laptop and from the first day with it, it had problems running anything, without crashing. it was a budget laptop and only had 2gb of ram, but the salesperson said it would do what i needed it to, and it never did.
    Hi,
Still have an old acer m-series laptop it came with vista too and still kicking it only has 3gb memory 2 core duo but 32 bit os and works best with it
64 bit just bogs it down.
Free upgraded it to win-10 32 bit but i prefer win-7 so it stays with it.

I never minded vista although I was only on it a few months
Win-7 libraries was the real confusing thing not anything vista had but it was different than xp lol

    I vaguely remember Win 1 & 2, certainly Win 3.1 and Win 95.

Not being particularly adventuress or just plain scared I avoided most of the troublesome OSs.

98SE, XP, Win 7 and Win 10 all of them pretty much OK for us.

I don't remember which OS it was that had a little dog pop up when doing a search, I do remember a couple of mine, when little use to come padding down in their PJs demanding to see the dog before promising to go to sleep.

His name was Rover - about the only part of Microsoft Bob that survived to make it into another OS.

Avoid installing a recent release. It normally has many bugs.
Ver 2010 (20h2) has been patched and now is bug free.
    Go with 20h2

I never owned a copy of Windows ME [Millenium Edition] nor Windows Vista but did work on them. The biggest issue with ME is it was rushed to market, Windows 2000 [replaced NT 4] for business had been released a few months earlier and consumers also wanted something new. Vista just never appealed to me but worked fine on OEM computers when staying with their drivers, not so good on Customs, it was the first to have both 32-bit and 64-bit versions depending upon the hardware [Yeah, WinXP Pro was also available 64-bit but not much for it]. I still have usable machines with XP, Vista [Notebook], 7, 8.1 [Notebook] plus a MS-DOS 6.x and Win3.1 Notebook [all were 'gifts' to rehab instead of junked].

Vista was a good OS - let down by a severe lack of driver support
Vista seemed to have a fair amount of driver support, but was the one that introduced broken-update-syndrome. IIRC, there were normally serious CBS errors on a clean install!

Thanks Bree, a nice memory flashback.

Also, thank you for the link to Microsoft Bob. Interesting read. I was unaware of it.

    Take care.

    Thank you Bree and WXC.

Hadn't realized dog had an official name.

I do remember some outrage when MS got rid of Rover and some users of XP were demanding its return in the Win 7 release.

that's not necessarily true of 20H2 being "bug free"
though it is more stable now than it was when first released back in late Oct. 2020

20H2 still has a few remaining issues (like with some old/outdated Conexant audio drivers) as noted here
