    Hi Guys

Probably like many, I received an option to install W10 update today but in the past I have heard, that we may be better without it.

    Advice please

No reason you can't delay it for a few weeks to see the level of complaints about it...........which would be reported on this forum.

Reasonable chance of no significant problems, but you don't need to be the first one onto the battlefield.

Which update? Or do you mean a feature update (upgrade)? Quite different. And don't know your build.

    Most updates can be uninstalled.
Feature updates can be rolled back within 10 days, extendable to 60.

Your backup is to use restore points and disk imaging.

You can read about each update per build in the relevant article in the News section with users' experience following.

Yes, your question is very vague.

OPen a cmd prompt type winver post results. The key is MS doesnt spend millions on updates for fun its either to fix problems or make your pc secure. If you dont update you may be at risk. The answer is to take a disk image and install all updates if there is a problem you can restore the image. Most people have no problems with updates

I've always ran the latest update/version of Windows 10 with no issues - on multiple computers.

With good backups...it won't matter. Even IF something goes wrong... you can just restore from a backup.

Upgrading from 1903 to 20H2 on 1 PC meant:
    a. My 20H2 PC can no longer access my 1903 PC via networking - a not uncommon issue
    b. Startup impact is no longer assessed (task manager) - bug common to everyone it seems? (Threads here).
    c. Correct search syntax is no longer highlighted in blue in file explorer's search box. (Lost around 1909 as MS kept making changes with this). Very helpful as this is incompletely documented.
    d. Cortana no longer sets reminders. All the reminders I had set (shown in Calendar) were lost after upgrading.
    e. Upgrading meant I lost the settings I'd had for my graphics adapter - the screen was dazzlingly bright and over contrasted, as I recall it being when I first got it. Had to redo those settings.
    f. Dragging and dropping in file explorer gave me a solid large rectangle under the mouse pointer instead of the usual translucent one. I had to remake the simple theme change within Settings I'd made years ago to create a new theme.
    g. Got the new banner in Settings - which may become permanent in 21H2 - and has been appearing intermittently. Initially 1 method dismissed it, but not after it reappeared.

Unfortunately I had expected b,c,d - except I hadn't expected my reminders to be wiped.

Will I upgrade my other PC? Hmmm...
