    Okay.

    It was worth a try.

    You could perform an in-place as suggested by @dalchina.

    For this you need a 1909 ISO.

    Or you can download the Media Creation Tool to download a 20h2 ISO and update to the current Windows version.


    I would rather suggest the last way to them.

    Granted an analytically based resolution would be far better... and it really shouldn't be the case that updates which appear to have been progressing normally are suddenly halted in a number of cases with this error number.

    However, it has seemed to resolve the problem.

    Fixing the problem without an in-place upgrade would be possible and I also know how.
    But due to the fact that its installed build is reaching the end of the support period, it makes no sense to invest the time and effort.
    It takes much less time to fix this error with an in-place upgrade than to do it manually.
    If it wasn't for the error code 0x800f081 due to missing manifest files, I would have made a fix for it.
