Nothing wrong with my hardware. Not sure how MS manage to get me into this situation. I formatted the partition where the original win10 OS was and use the USB key to install from scratch. It is all working. Just to avoid these hours of work in the future, I like to look at the "System restore" option which askes for a system image. Can someone tell me how to create one ? I did some quick searching and found people talking about recovery disk. Is that the same as recovery image ?
After I recover my laptop, I can see that I have a partition on the hard drive call RECIMG. Is that the recovery image created by dell before they shipped me the 7140 ? If it is why is the "System restore" option not able to find it ?

If you're attempting a clean install, I suggest you create a new bootable flash drive on another PC using the MS media creation tool.
. I formatted the partition where the original win10 OS was and use the USB key to install from scratch.
Then note that a clean install is to unallocated space on the disk. You do not normally create a partition for Windows - Windows creates the partitions it needs- typically 4 for a UEFI installation.

As part of the installation you delete existing Windows partitions.

Tutorial on performing a 'clean install' available.
