KB5000842 keeps failing with error code 0x8007000d

Microsoft is well aware of this issue and said themselves they will be pushing out a new cumulative update on the 16th of this month I believe it was.

Good to know and would be interesting to know why it happens but is fixed when performing the action I did.

But that only relates to the error code: 0x800f081f as far as I know.:
UPDATE 3/26: Some Windows Insiders may experience an 0x800f081f error when attempting to install 21H1 Build 19043.906 (KB5000842). We are aware of the issue and planning to resolve the issue in a new Cumulative Update for 21H1.

And this error code is caused if you have installed the previous Cumulative Insider Update and perform Update files cleanup in Disk Cleanup.

Then the manifest file: amd64_microsoft-windows-certificaterequesttool_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.19041.1_none_1e01a107b6c5cadf.manifest is deleted from the manifests folder and thus the component store in the registry is damaged.

I've tried running the Windows Update troubleshooter as well as sfc /scannow to no avail.

This error and similar code errors are related to a messed up update from Microsoft. Many are having this same issue. Microsoft has stated they will be releasing a new cumulative update I believe on April 16th or something like that. So you can either do the In place Upgrade or wait. Im waiting because even though the In place upgrade keeps all files folders apps etc I dont think it keeps all current system settings and since I just bought a new PC Ive had enough changing settings over and over. Whatever you do good luck. Hope this or any other advice here helps.

However, if MS will address the issue in an upcoming update while this failing update doesn't seem to be critical in any way, I think waiting would be a perfectly fine option.

should be addressed in the newly released KB5001330 (build 1904x.928) update posted April 13.

I've tried many of the suggestions I found on how to try and fix this issue and I'm still getting the failed error message:

"There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x800f0984)"

I thought the patch released today KB5001330 was supposed to fix this issue...

I've spent way to much time trying to find a fix and I'm just wondering if this update is even worth it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I have tried quite a few already....

Error code 0x800f0984 means „PSFX_E_MATCHING_BINARY_MISSING“.

Put simply, it means that the update that is to be installed is missing files with an older version.

You can fix the error manually, but it can be time-consuming.

In this case, too, the easiest way for anyone affected with this error code is an in-place upgrade.
