disable windows update service
i have disable windows update service many times, still it switches to manual mode by itself and start by itself
my laptop is 7-8 years old and i am running of hard disk, i dont want windows to update

Utterly trivial way to try to disable Windows Updates- which MS won't let you do.
There's a whole tutorial on how to do that properly - in the Tutorial section- and plenty of relevant threads.

SecurityXploded might still have a free version of Windows Updater Disabler utility -- if so, advise, I only have Windows7Pro at home, and that WUD works just fine.
