Right-click the Start button, select "Settings", "Windows Update", "Change active hours", click "Change" and set active hours to reflect the way you use your computer. Also, select "Advanced options" and make sure that "Restart this device as soon as possible..." is set to "Off".

I was shorthand-posting about the Windows 10 that was pushed by Microsoft a few years ago free of charge to those who had licensed versions of Windows 7. I never updated from 7 to 10, however, I got the impression that the early bird W10 was free to licensed users of W7.
Windows 7 Home Premium users get a free upgrade to Windows 10 Home.

Windows 7 Pro & Ultimate users get a free upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

I guess I fail to see where the value comes in at "uninstalling" something like Edge. I can certainly understand that you have another browser preference and that you don't want to use Edge. So, remove the icon from the taskbar, take it off your desktop and forget it's on your system.

Windows is a closed source operating system. You have a license to use it. It's going to come with features and components that may or may not be of use to you. I'm trying to imagine how much disk space you get back, or freed up memory from not having Edge installed that would make it compelling to continue to fight MS to try to make it go away.

I keep Edge on my systems and use it when a website complains about my ad blocker. If it's something that I really want to see and they are scoffing at my ad blocker, I just use Edge and let it load the ads and I read the story.

A comment: If wanting total no bloatware try a version of Linux, there's a number of "flavors" available. A full install of Linux Mint on a 32GB eMMC or SSD drive leaves about 19GB free, Win10 has problems with that small of a drive [I have an 11" and a 14" that I did that to rather than just throw them away].

While I agree there's not much point in uninstalling Edge, I see even less point in putting the word uninstalling between doublequotes, as there does exist a tried and true way for uninstalling it permanently. Permanently. As in, eternally─and forever. At least until they find a new and improved method for shoving it or something maybe probably similar into the user's pie hole, which is precisely when tears will start flowing once again on the various many forum websites, assorted article comment sections, antisocial media, and also at the local barber shop if I can assume that the lockdown against the third wave will have been lifted before then.

As for websites that complain about my uBlock Origin regardless of whether I have set ad blocking to disabled for them. I add them to a list the end result of which is that they are automagically opened in a separate copy of my portable Firefox that uses different browser settings in concert with different addons and different addon configurations, and that automagically runs in a separate sandbox within Sandboxie Plus, where it can then play happily on its own with all my fake personal data that I keep in there.

hdmi, you are one cool poster! :) I have some adblockers and anti-whatevers on my browsers, that is far as I want to go. Also, I leave I.E. and W7 Edge alone.

At school, had to hurry and finish the above and goto a portable/classroom. Now, I can finish my thoughts: For years, I have left I.E. in great running condition because there were a few web sites that had scripts that only i.e. would work with. I recently installed W7 Edge to "parallel" Chrome. If one temporarily goes down, the other likely is aok. I recently installed the newest Firefox and left it "unprotected" - no adblockers, no shields, nada. There are a few web sites that will not cooperate with my Chrome setup - I use Firefox for those. In short, leaving Edge in great running condition is a great idea - for me at least.
