Clicking the links for installed windows updates doesn't open web page
Clicking the hyperlinks for installed windows updates does not show the relevant web page associated with them.
A website should appear in my web browser when I click the name of an installed windows update giving more information about it.
Why doesn't it? How can I fix it?

I think you need to specify your default browser:
Choose Default Apps in Windows 10
alternatively you can copy KB number into browser and search for it.
What browser do you use?

My default web browser is firefox and I checked the defaults for the http:// and https:// protocol and it's set to firefox.
And it still doesn't work.
Yes I know I can search for the KB number on Google or Bing, but problems with one aspect of windows is usually symptomatic of problems in other areas, so if this issue is fixed, it should fix the performance issues (like freezing, crashing, slowness and long loading times of opening programs) in other areas.

Hi, do you mean you actually have a range of symptoms, not just this one?

- My laptop takes 6 minutes to reach the login screen
- It takes a long time to load my user account
- Some software keeps on crashing regularly like Windows Explorer, Discord, Firefox, Time, Netcut, Host Process for Windows Services, Calculator, COM Surrogate, Desktop Window Manager, Settings
- Windows Search takes a long time to load upon logging into my user account, not all the search results appear straight away
- Windows has experienced hardware errors (visible in Event Viewer and Reliability Monitor)
- Firefox takes over 15 minutes to load IndexedDB
- Sometimes the sound cuts off when playing music with bluetooth, especially when Windows Explorer crashes
- Microsoft Edge freezes upon opening and takes 5 minutes to load, and often crashes failing to load
- Right clicking a file in a program other than explorer, to reveal the explorer menu causes the program to freeze. This is probably because of third party software adding COM hooks to add stuff to the menu. ShellExView is a good program.
- Sometimes when I restart my computer, it doesn't restart. Instead it closes all the programs that are actually open then asks me to enter my password to access my user again. I then have to click restart a second time for it to restart.
- Sometimes when I restart my computer I see flashing horizontal coloured lines on the black screen, until the Windows or computer manufacturer (ie. Acer) logo appears to indicate that windows is loading.
- I sometimes have had the below errors when opening Windows Explorer the file manager not the process
The performance problems was much worse last week, last month of 12 months ago, but I did 12 different solutions which all helped somewhat, which caused significant improvements.

Wow. Hmm, it's a newish laptop.. but best start from basics with that number of issues. When did it last work without problems? With which Windows build?
What precautions have you taken - e.g. disk imaging, restore points..?
1. check your disk: e.g. Hard Disk Sentinel - great instant appraisal, best know. Trial- portable version available.
2. If ok,run
chkdsk c: /scan
from an admin command or Powershell prompt
3. If ok, similarly run
sfc /scannow
4. If ok
About 2 minutes after logging in, capture screenshots of your task manager, Processes tab, organising columns of high resource use high to low by clicking on the appropriate column header.
5. If ok, perform a clean boot (Google or see tutorial if unsure).
Check each issue as appropriate to see if any change.

I'm guessing you still have an issue with disk usage and performance.
Let's see what that shows.
Have you made any hardware changes since you bought it?
I'm using Comodo Internet Security which comes with antivirus and firewall. I'm not using hard drive encryption.
But I don't want to uninstall Comodo as Windows Defender sucks.
Uninstall 3rd party security software.
- Updating the audio driver using Driver Fix as my computer manufacturer website is providing an outdated version that was faulty (I also have Driver Talent and Driver Booster installed) (restart required)
- Updating my "system devices" drivers and "wireless devices" like bluetooth and wifi with Snappy Driver Installer because my computer manufacturer website is providing me outdated drivers (restart required)
Oh. You've been using Driver Updater tools.
To be honest, I suspect you may have brought some of these issues on yourself. Again and again the routine use of driver updaters is decried here.
I'm also concerned the number of changes you've made may make trying to resolve this by 'fixing' things nigh impossible.
How hard would a clean install be?

To be honest, I suspect you may have brought some of these issues on yourself. Again and again the routine use of driver updaters is decried here.
I had to use third party driver updating tools because my computer manufacturer Acer was giving me outdated drivers, of which some were faulty.

It stopped working 4 days ago in Windows 10 20H2.
Anyway it works now. It appears that a Known Issue Rollback has been applied
