did the latest updates mess up Sleep mode? Hang, crash

I've noticed more sleep hangs and even shutdowns while in sleep mode, oddly.

I haven't installed anything new. Only updates have been installed.

Sleep will not complete. It goes half asleep, and won't wake up on key press.

Also one time it shutdown after sleep mode was logged in Event Viewer. That's the first time I've seen this happen.
Event viewer logged it as an improper shutdown.

I've disabled the idle sleep timer for now.

but wondering if anyone else is seeing sleep problems lately

The first step for your sleep problem should be to go to your computer maker's website then download & [re]install the latest display driver.

There is no diagnostic test for the driver being corrupted so reinstalling it is the only method of eliminating it as the cause of the problem.

While you're there, check for any Bios updates.

My PC started to crash after waking up after some recent update. It's 100% a Windows update, because I use Windows Update Blocker to install updates at certain intervals and the sleep bug started happening the next day. The PC would crash after attempting to wake up 50% of the time, then restart.

    BlueScreenView shows BSODs started happening:
