installation of Windows 20H2 has failed 0x80004005

The installation of Windows 20H2 has failed (current version 1909). After downloading from Windows Update site and ran it, it produced an error code 0x80004005 and suggested to try again. But that also failed.
The SetupDiagResults.log file shows the following error message
Error: SetupDiag reports abrupt down-level failure.
    Last Operation: Finalize
    Error: 0x80004005 - 0x60016
LogEntry: 2021-03-14 08:52:54, Error SP Operation failed: Update Boot Code. Error: 0x80004005[gle=0x000000b7]
What does it mean and how can I succeed in installing the 20H2 version?

This means that there is a problem updating the boot configuration.

Do you want to keep updating or do a clean reinstallation?

If you want to update, it won't work with a 21h1 ISO either.

    Friendly greetings

    Hi, Tekkie Boy,
Your remarks are confusing! Your opinion is different from imanalien's.
Are you saying that updating will not work? Why then does MS offer updates instead of suggesting a clean install?
What do you mean by a clean reinstallation? Do I have to get a new disk for Windows 10 with 21H1 version? Where can I get it?

    @nanatsu

FYI, the error means, updating boot code failed because some file already exists:
    Code:
    .\err* 0x000000b7
    # for hex 0xb7 / decimal 183
      BOOTLOG_ENABLED bugcodes.h
      ERROR_ALREADY_EXISTS winerror.h
    # Cannot create a file when that file already exists.
This could mean "something" was in use by system such that OS would have to be taken offline before updating said file/code.

    - - - Updated - - -

For example it could have been used by anti virus, in which case disabling AV would work, but hard to guess what was using it.

You need a USB stick for 20H2.

    Hi, Tekkie Boy,
Are you saying that updating will not work? Yes, not even if you are using a 21h1 ISO. As long as the problem is not resolved.

What do you mean by a clean reinstallation? I mean new Windows installation with formatting the hard drive.
It sounded to me as if you wanted to consider imanalien's suggestion and reinstall Windows from scratch.

I gave them no reason to answer in what I saw as a harsh tone.

I just wanted to know what you want to do now? Update or new installation?

zBook will be able to help you.

You don't have to manually format an HDD/SSD before clean installation because Windows Setup will do it automatically. You just have to delete the existing partitions.
