No updates available despite message that service will expire

    Windows 10 version 1909 18363.1440

Hi, recently (few days days) I received a notification, in the notification area, that my license will soon expire and that I need to update. Back then only a security update was available. Just now I received a second message/warning, but again only a security intelligence update was available. No error messages. PC runs smoothly. Now what?

Windows 10 version 1909 support will end on May 11, 2021. If you want support you must upgrade to a more recent version.

The latest version of Windows 10 is version 20H2. Is there any reason you have not updated Windows 10?

Have you run the usual checks on your system?
That is opening a elevated command prompt and running sfc /scannow
    and
    Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    ?
you also might try settings and in search box type updates choose show all results then scroll down to bottom
and choose find and fix problems with windows update. the troubleshooter will pop up and just follow the directions.

Well, isn't that exactly the problem I just wrote about? Shouldn't it be available in the updates? Doesn't show up. Can I do it manually?

I don't have any problems with that. Updates just fine whatever is available to it. I'm assuming you meant to check Update History.

Hi, your PC seems to be from around 2019 - is that correct?

Note that MS does not offer upgrades to PCs deemed in some fashion to be incompatible, for whatever reason that may be. Perhaps that applies in your case.

Meanwhile, don't panic. Your PC will continue to function normally with your current build.

You can try downloading an iso file for a later build and upgrade manually. (Tutorials available - in the Tutorial section).
If you choose to do that, make sure you create a disk image of all partitions comprising your O/S before doing so- just in case. The routine use of disk imaging is recommended here endlessly as a matter of course.

    Welcome to Ten Forums Valmont

Only the Insider builds have an expiry date. The retail build of 1909 should just notify you that support will be ending, not that the license is about to expire.

Post a screenshot of Winver so we can tell exactly what type of build you have. An Insider build will show an expiry date, like this....

Assuming you are getting a real expiry notice, please see this video:
How to Fix Your Windows License Will Expire Soon Windows 10 - YouTube

    This covers several possible scenarios.

Where is your PC from? Did you buy it second hand, for example? How did you activate your Windows license originally?

Further, if you in fact have activation issues, please run this free program and advise what it says without giving away any license details (i.e. edit the screenshot):

It's a MPG X570 Gaming EDGE Wifi Ryzen 7 2700x CPU which I ordered and assembled in March 2020 (together with a new psu, GTX1660 and 2x8 Gb ram.). But this was available in 2019 on the market as well, so maybe that's it.

Winver shows just a normal 1909 build. I'm sure I'm using wrong terminology here. It's not the license expiring, but support. I'll make a screenshot when I receive this notification again.

It works fine. If it keeps working like this then I don't need an upgrade.

It quite might be that message i"m receiving in generically implemented and doesn't apply to me.

I'm in the same position. Message in tray advising me I should update as support ends soon. But all info in Settings implies there are no updates outstanding. Presumably there must be a reason I'm not being offered an update for1909 (18363.1440) . So I'm reluctant to pursue the 'ISO route' until I know what I'm risking!

Disk images as per #5 will give you a way back even if you can't roll back.

But you may prefer to avoid the hassle and simply wait. Beware that you might suddenly find you do receive an upgrade. Be prepared for that.
