Maybe the reason why M$ haven't trashed my PC before is because M$ are too afraid of what I might do to them.

Then probably, you should stop making those assumptions.

@hdmi Sorry, you confused two totally different thing. Please note the spelling.
    I said:
Mine is a normally accepted emphatic form.
referring to Matthew Wai's comment about me saying
    'No updates. Period.'

I.e. he was commenting on my use of English.
I have a formal degree in IT
I believe you misread the p and the h .. do you perhaps have a HpD?
My definition of being empathic is different from yours.

No, I was not commenting on your English usage. I am in no position to do so.

Hi all, and thank for many of the replies, Not all; I am not a fan of infighting

I have installed SHammer, and that seems to work; WUpdate is now disabled.

Funny thing is, I can't re-enable it manually. I think, however, I can use SHammer to temporarily enable it, and then d/l updates. This is fine; thing is, I want to control when I check for updates. And this seems to allow for this.

Thank you for the earlier (p1) gpedit sugg, but as I have the home vers,, that option is unavail hare.

    Cheers.

I don't like to manually check for updates, so I don't use Sledgehammer.
