    Thanks again.

    My guess is the third-party driver updater program they installed, which I have previously uninstalled and also scanned for malware. I told them to never do that again .. haha.

    OK. I am curious if there are any more drivers missing.
    New SFXFix.txt:
    WeTransfer

    Question for you:
    I see these folders in my own C:\WINDOWS\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository directory. In your fix zips, are you getting these driver folders from your own Windows installation or is this from a recovery disk or something like that?
    If you do not wish to explain, I understand.
    I copy the files from a reference windows image.
    You can also use the files from your Windows installation.
    You only need to copy the driver folder that is missing into the "FileRepository" folder of the SFCFix.zip package.
    And then they apply the SFCFix.zip package to have the files copied.
    You can find out which folder is missing in the end section of setupapi.dev.log if you search for the error code 0x00000003.

    For example:

    @murray55

    Did you solve the problem with the help of the instructions?

    Thanks very much for taking the time to explain it.

    I am still working on it, every time I do it there's another driver missing. I'm scared how long this is going to take, lmao.

    Is there any faster or more efficient way of doing this ? At the moment I do the SFCFix, run Windows Update and wait ~30min for it to finish, restart, add missing driver, and repeat. I'm up to about 5 more now.

    I've also used ShadowExplorer to try and export the FileRepository folder from before she installed the program which caused this issue, but of course .. there are no earlier restore points

    Try this:
    Create a restore point on the faulty computer and then copy and paste the FileRepository Folder from your Windows Installation on your desktop and then copy the folder in the SFCFix.zip and when done apply it again on the other machine.

    Ok I can try that. Though the most recent driver I fixed had a different ending in the name, for example acxhdaudiop.inf_amd64_cda432155f21a6b2. The bolded part on my computer was different than on theirs. I had just renamed the folder to put in the SFCFix.

    So I'm guessing after doing the full FileRepository fix, I would then just need to look for duplicate folders after and resolve manually that way?

    @murray55

    I would leave the duplicates in the folder without doing anything and then run Windows Update again.

    I would just like to point out to any members following this thread, that the SFCFix.zip file is specific to the User with the problem/issue, and NOT a general fix for everybody.

    Hi Tekkie Boy, are you able to assist me as well?

    From my reading of the log files the bluetooth driver (bth.inf) seems to be the culprit.

    Log files: WeTransfer

    Two possibly relevant points:
    1. I'm running Windows 10 on a Macbook Pro (via Bootcamp)
    2. I have messed around with my bluetooth drivers in the past because of issues with my Logitech mouse. I only replaced driver files (not deleted) with other versions and later manually rolled back the changes it broke stuff.

    Thank you!

    @duckduckgo

    Hello and Welcome on TF.

    Download SFCFix.exe and save this to your Desktop.
    Download the file below, "Fix removed because user related", and save this to your Desktop too.
    Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
    Save any open documents and close all open windows.
    On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
    Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.

    SFCFix will now process the script.
    Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
    Then upload the SFCFix.txt

    Friendly greetings
