    The date '1970' is not the true date, but there to ensure the correct driver precence is observed. Intel also use the date 07/18/1968...

    This is necessary because it's a supporting utility that should not overwrite any other drivers...

    Microsoft do the same thing with their drivers.

    Bree is correct but I would add that some MS drivers use the date 21st April 2009.
