If you can't or are hesitant about applying fixes, or they don't help you are, of course, free to try an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data or to obtain an appropriate iso file and try to upgrade manually.

I think the order is:
1) Finish my backups and info collection with due paranoia
2) Run the script that clears out the Software Downloads and shuts down and restarts services and see how that unfolds
3) Failing that, do a upgrade repair install with the idea that might fix it
4) Failing all else, go for a clean sweep install

Some people love to start at 4) but because I have so many different products installed (from the major tools to many small specific tools), I hate doing app wipes if I don't have to - it can take me quite a while (I think at one point when I was doing Java EE, C++, Perl, Python, Web stuff, and some other development work, the re-installation of my tool suites, the setting up of the macros, colour codings, etc took about 24 hours of time to entirely rehab to full preferences).

That said, it's the fall back if the other means don't work.

I mean, on the one hand, if I have a Win 10 license, and I was doing a full install, you'd think I could just pull down media for Win 10 64-bit 20H2 version and do a fresh install and that would ensure that it'd be clean sweep and up to date (not counting whatever things come after 20H2 and any driver installs, 3rd party hardware installs, etc. I'd need to do.
