Why is my computer checking for updates much later than usual?

Per your screenshot in post #7
Your Feb Windows Patch Tuesday Updates for 2/9/2021 came through on Wed 2/10/2021.
    There's nothing wrong with that.

    That is not weird.
Review Bree's post #8 "By default Windows 10 automatically checks for updates once every 22 hours with a random factor of minus zero to twenty percent, meaning it does not check at the same time every day. This randomisation is to intended to spread the load of the update servers. It does however mean that you although you can be confident that your PC will perform an automatic check every day, you can never predict exactly when."

So, what is happening to me is just completely normal then? Even though I never remember this happening before?

That is true. I see that many times where I volunteer and a couple of times myself during a year.

And it should return to it's "regular schedule" soon?

Your regular schedule is set to 2-4pm ET: there are factors that have been mentioned amounting to the "regular schedule" in which it may not always occur during that time.
Not knowing how you expect that etc., consider doing them manually.
However, please note that your Patch Tuesday's WU's are installing in a timely manner as has been noted, you are fine. There's nothing wrong on what's going on.

It's the timeframe when I first turn my computer on. And it usually checks for them when I first turn it on.

Obviously depending on where you are in the world there will be variations, which in part maybe due MS scheduling, possibly some of your Settings etc.
Some updates occur after a Restart, again resulting in different install times and dates.

Pointless worrying about minor differences that have been occurring for decades.

There is nothing wrong. Consider yourself better informed now.
