Manually? Why not schedule a script to do so automatically at startup/logon?

Thanks for that idea. I'll give that some thought and rattle your cage if the thought requires development.

Guys...I noticed today my problem is still there So might not have been the update, just a coincidence. I did notice the the SearchUI .exe is not in task manager at all! When I troubleshooted the search index, it says it's not working error, I try to fix and it says it's fixed! I close out and go back in to double check and it's not working again. it's giving me a false reading?

Was thinking of running this sfc /scannow or creating a new administrator account?

    Thanks

Ways in general to fix Windows search:

    a. Option 3
Rebuild Search Index in Windows 10
    b. Tweaking.com's free repair tool (Google)- follow the steps- select only relevant repairs- e.g. importan services, Windows search
    c. In-place upgrade repair install - keeps all progs and data
    Tutorial available if needed.

I tried all 3, I tried the indexing nothing changed, it said indexing not working, then I ran the troubleshoot and it fixed. But when you go back to look again it's not fixed? Tried the 2 different bat files, still nothing.

Ran that sfc /scannow, found errors and said they fixed successfully

    I've never did B or C yet..

After all this nothing has changed.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Ensure you've uninstalled the most recent update. Then recheck.
There seem to be 2 or 3 such reports- just seen this:
Since recent Update, Indexing is always off

Ran that sfc /scannow, found errors and said they fixed successfully
    - unlikely to have an effect, but confirms integrity of system files.

Then proceed with (b) and (c).

Hi. I had an Update a few days ago and since then, whenever I search for a file in Explorer, a message tells me my searches may be slow because indexing is turned off - do you want to turn it on? I click to turn it on but the same message appears with subsequent searches. Does anyone know the cause/cure of this? Thank you. Winver 1909.

Do the minimum, having observed the preparatory steps. You're only trying to fix search indexing.

Rather than risk breaking something, do the minimum.

Some have had success with this. Just depends what your problem is...
