    Hello guy’s and gals, sorry for the late reply NavyLCDR I will be using a retail pro product key from a old 2013 dell laptop.

    You will find that you can't use VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T to upgrade Windows 10 Home to Pro on your new computer.

    Also, the command slmgr /dlv cannot be used to determine if a license for Windows 10 is truly retail or not.

    Hello guy’s and gals I Have an old batterd ( most keys are no longer working ) work laptop I have the device specifications device ID, Product ID , That is a digitally activated windows 10 pro , I will be getting my legion 5 Pro tomorrow but it’s the home edition ( cost to much to upgrade to Pro )

    question 1 is how would I go about to locate the ( Actual key )

    question 2 can I genuinely ( successfully) upgrade my home version to Pro

    Look in, after adjusting for your language,
    C:\Windows\System32\en-GB\Licenses
    or
    Microsoft License Terms - with selectors

    The relevant part is Section 4 which will say
    Transfer activation to a window 10 home-20180600-transfer-rights.png

    The aka.ms/transfer link will take you to
    Additional Information Regarding the Windows Operating System Software License Terms
    which will tell you that there are no additional terms affecting Section 4.
