    Windows Domain Account ?

    Hi,

I’ve purchased a laptop from eBay but to be safe I decided to put a fresh windows on it, I completely wiped the only drive (C) and it goes through setup etc then presents me with a company logon! If I restart setup and don’t connect to a network then it’s ok and windows is activated but I’d rather it didn’t do this at all. I’ve contacted the seller who buys and sells in bulk so he says it’s normal it will previously have belonged to a company but, is there anyway to fully remove their version of windows and their product key so my mind is at rest knowing it’s my own? I’m not illiterate with IT but I’m no expert by any means

During the clean install of Windows 10, did you delete every partition on the drive until it was 1 big unallocated space, then select that unallocated space to install to and click next?

Hi, yes I did I was left with 1 big unallocated space. From what I’ve read online it must have a product key on the motherboard or bios and as this is a pro key this is why I don’t get the option to install windows 10 home but I cannot work out why it defaults to a company logon

You can run showkey plus from this forum to see what is in BIOS:
    ShowKeyPlus

Just click on the product key and it will automatically obscure and you can post a screenshot here. Normally, when you do a clean install of Window 10 Pro, one of the initial questions you answer is if it is for personal use or company use and you should select the top option which is personal use. What are you using to install Windows 10? Is it a USB flash drive made from Microsoft's Media Creation Tool?

Where did you get the Windows install media you used? The best place to get it would be from Microsoft using the Media Creation Tool.

Yes, if there's a key in the bios firmware you won't be asked for a key or which edition to install. You can read this key and see what type it is with ShowKeyPlus

When installing Pro, one of the first screens you should see at the set up stage after installing is this one, asking to choose between personal use and use in an organisation. If you choose 'personal' then you should not get asked for a domain logon.

It’s a genuine Windows USB with Product key and sticker. I set up as personal use but let me try again to be 100% sure

Is the company logo you refer to the computer / motherboard maker?
Does it only appear until Windows starts loading & a Windows logo appears?

Just by way of example, my Dell shows the Dell logo during booting before Windows starts loading. That is normal because Dell provide my Bios.

Are you confusing company logon with a Microsoft Account Logon? If you are installing Windows 10 Home, the behavior you are describing fits Windows 10 Home which will require you to logon with a Microsoft Account if connected to the internet during setup. It will force you to logon with an email address. The workaround is to not be connected to the internet during setup, and then you can logon with a local account.

Nothing bad will happen by not connecting to the internet until after your user account is set up. Many people actually prefer to install any edition of Windows that way.

    Hi,

No it asks me for a private company (had to Google them) account logon which is so strange.

Have you tried going into BIOS and resetting BIOS to default settings? Can you post a screenshot of this logon screen?
