Windows 10 update crashed my laptop

Hi, whenever windows updates my pc it has issues since new, this time running win 10 home it updated critical files, shut down to restart and has not rebooted, it has lost drivers for display, keyboard, (modem - Like it always does) and another item I am yet to sort, I’ve tried installing windows 10 again through a monitor and lead but that displays at 8bit and b&w, as it also lost the boot sequences for windows. It won’t do anything other than install a new windows, I can’t restore, or reboot on its own without a disc, I am now thinking of removing windows 10 completely, have managed to run chkdsk all is ok. Been and bought a case to put drive into to plug into another laptop. Thanks Microsoft for all the shite you cause with updates, I have it on windows 7 home premium at the moment as I can’t sort it out with win 10

You venom so unpleasantly expressed towards MS should be expressed on a Microsoft forum.

This is not a Microsoft-run forum - we are users, just as subject to MS's vagaries as you.

Your computer is on the HP list of retired products
    https://support.hp.com/gb-en/retired-products

    and the laptop specs are
The configuration HP provides comes with a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 Socket AM2 Serial ATA ExpressCard 300.0 GB Windows Vista Home Premium, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600, 17.0 512 MB DDR 256 MB DDR (Shared).
This HP Laptop can take up to 2.0 GB ram, with a fixed amount of 2.0 GB = 1.0 GB (removable) + 1.0 GB (removable) installed PC2-4200 DDR2 SDRAM SODIMMs..

totally unsuitable for windows 10 - that is NOT to say that you may NOT get it to work in some manner on 10, but it will most certainly not work correctly, smoothly and without problems.

The fact that you may read that windows 10 can run on that CPU and with 2GB ram is NOT in the real world, even indeed as a vanilla OS it is different to reality.
    Intel(R) Core™2 Duo Processor T7200 (4M Cache, 2.00 GHz, 667 MHz FSB) Product Specifications
IMHO there is little point in being so annoyed that Microsoft`s 10 OS will not work on such an old out of date system.
I would suggest you use Linux or stick with 7 and bear in mind the security risks.

Not to say Win 10 won't run well on old out of date systems. I'm posting on my 11 year old DELL Inspiron N7110 Laptop running 20H2 without a hitch. Check my specs. Although I did install an SSD, which made a world of difference.

    I agree but you have
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2310M CPU @ 2.10GHz
    Motherboard: Dell Inc. 0YH79Y
    Memory: 4 GB DDR3

    compared with 2GB ram
Your CPU has 2 cores and 4 threads - with hyperthreading whereas the T7200 if that is what is in the HP has 2 cores 2 threads and no hyper threading.

That extra 2GB of ram as you know makes a lot of difference.

To add to the Conversation, If you are running Windows 10 64Bit, it will run at a crawl. Microsoft says the minimum RAM for 64 bit Windows is 2GB of RAM, which is not realistic, you need at least 4GB to run relatively smoothly for 64 bit Windows. If you are running 32 bit Windows, it will run OK. But being very old unsupported hardware, you would expect to have to reinstall your drivers from your Computer Manufacturer after each major update or upgrade.

If the update was the only problem:
To possibly get you back to where you were it may be possible to uninstall the update.

True! Just to say that a properly configured OLD system can run 10.

Got it running ok on win 10 all but for the modem which was changed to a usb stick, just because an update crashed it doesn’t mean it should be binned as it has run better than the 3 other laptops I’ve had since and yes Microsoft os systems have always caused me issues with drivers on all the pc’s I’ve had when Apple haven’t!
