Restarting between multiple Windows updates or only once at the end?

    Hello everybody,

please allow me a "stupid" question:
When you run Windows updates manually (e.g. in the course of a new installation), do you restart after each "reboot required" or do you let windows download all updates first, install them and then restart once?

Attached are two screenshots to clarify my question.
From a technical point of view IMHO it makes more sense to restart every time, but on the other hand it is very time consuming and tricky to wait for a restart and Windows itself starts in the course of a patch day where several large updates are installed one after the other, even just once - right?

    Thanks and greetings,
    Martin

You only need to restart once. Windows stages the updates and finalizes everything during the reboot process. The "pending restart" is just Windows way of telling you that the update has been downloaded and prepared, but it will take a restart to fully install it.

Just thinking (I know that's dangerous)...

Consider what would happen if you left Windows to its own devices rather than watching the updates download and intervening. Windows would download all the updates, then reboot when the system is not busy. It won't reboot separately for every download.
