    Update installation error

    W10 Home 20H2

    The first update batch for 2021 is recently released: KB4598242. But I failed to install it due to error code:0x8007000d. Two online "how-to" instructions to correct the error did not help.

    Use Windows Update Troubleshooter.

    • Right-click on Start button and pick Settings
    • Go to Update & Security > Troubleshoot
    • Click on Windows Update and select Run the troubleshooter

    Download Windows updates manually.

    • Go to the official Microsoft update catalog;
    • Enter a specific update code, for example, KB4481031
    • Select the correct version and click Download
    • Click on the link and Windows will update your computer

    Resetting the Windows Update components can usually solve these types of issues.

    SFC /scannow and chkdsk /r did not find any file or disk error

    Troubleshooter did not help.
    Installation from catalog has the same result. Same error.

    BTW: This is the only update that always failed (x 8 times). Other updates have been and are being installed seamlessly.

    I have never intentionally or knowingly disabled any services.

    BTW: Every day I install at least one update with no problem. This particular update has failed to be installed X 8 times already, with same error.

    This tutorial input from Brink - Reset_Reregister_Windows_Update_Components.bat - was blocked with a warning that it can damage my device.

    Try to install update KB4598481 first. It's a servicing stack update.

    https://www.catalog.update.microsoft...px?q=KB4598481 is already installed (on 1/11)

    I tried to install Brink's tutorial and again it was blocked. (by what/whom? W Defender?) again with the same reason.

    Click on "More info"-->"Run anyway".

    Update installation error-big-no.png

    The only options are Keep and Report safe, which I did but W Defender Screen just does not allow it installed.
    There is no option to Run anyway. The Keep anyway resulted in this pop out which shows only one option: Don't run
