Just to help this discussion along, I think the OP's question is a reference to Windows 10 Home and Pro - Modern Lifecycle Policy - MSDocs

That's what I have always expected as well but MS does not say so anywhere that I can find; I cannot find anything to refute the OP's conclusion.

They have been publishing that 2025 end date for several years now.

Their pre-publication spiel, before July 2015, was that Windows would always be with us.

@btv7 - You have now marked this thread as solved. If, as I expect, that was a mistake, you can unmark it as solved by clicking on the green button at the bottom of the page. Denis

So I would guess they then will move to Windows 11, and not skip a number like they did 9. After Vista they went the number route: 7,8,10,11,12, etc.

The end date is purely for legal reasons. No company would guarantee supporting an OS in perpetuity as that would be commercial suicide i.e. if MS could not afford to keep supporting it post 2025, they would be exposed to lawsuits.

What will happen post 2025 is they continue to support W10 on a rolling annual basis or extend the support end date e.g. for further five years.
There will be no Windows 11.

Well Win 10 was released 2015... 10 years is 2025. They'll probably need our money, again, by 2025.

Maybe if we're stubborn about switching again... we'll be able to upgrade to Windows XX, for free, again.
