Can I get windows 10 license key for free??

Hi I have an HP pc , in my case the specs don't matter what matters is that my PC fell once and the hard drive stopped working, called the IT guy and he told me to buy the license key is foolish as it is expensive so he put in fake key, and after the key was recognized as being fake by the system it rejected it and guess what I now have a watermark on my PC telling me to activate windows, the thing is it is expensive and I'm not the most financially capable person to begin with, I know shit happens and I should buy it, but do you guys have a way which won't cost me money??? P.S i have the drive which has the windows, the connector dosen't work so I'll get it fixed but yeah I have the drive, IT said it may stop working any moment, as it does crash again and again. Any solution here??

    Windows 10 here.

You had windows 10 on the pc did you login with a MS account and was it activated. Do you have a key that came with the pc. I dont know what he has done if you had 10 then a new install should activate without putting a key in as it would normally have a digital license.
Is the version on the pc the same as before ie home if he has put pro on and you had home it wont activate

Your "IT guy" had no clue what he was talking about. Once Windows 10 is activated on a computer, a digital license for that edition of Windows 10 for that computer is stored on Microsoft Activation Servers based on the unique hardware ID of the computer. A Microsoft Account has no affect on that.

Reinstall the same edition of Windows 10 on a new hard drive on the same computer and no product key, fake or real, is required. Once connected to the internet, Windows will send the computers hardware ID to Microsoft Activation Servers and if the edition of Windows 10 matches, it will activate itself.

I assume, you did not have a proper license to begin with or maybe the IT guy installed a different version (Home/Pro) compared to what you had before? You can buy a key for $5 on ebay, but for the record, you do not need to activate Windows at all, but you will not be able to change wallpaper and a few things like that.

    @Parthsingh,

Open a command prompt or powershell window with admin privileges and run:
    Code:
    slmgr /dlv
Post the results here and we can help you more.

Did you open PowerShell to run it? Not Command Prompt?

Also the main thing to consider is that you did not answer the question first posed to you - did you log in with a Microsoft account in your original HD?

My Pc is 2010, but it is compatible with windows 10, or should I say it was because after my hard drive stopped working good it, so I don't think I had a key of any sort not physically at least, unless the digital key exists

I surely did, no watermark or anything, or if that dose'nt satisfy the concern I think me buying it from the store does? I mean what do you mean by a proper license?

Why do you want to delete the attachment? It is exactly what we needed to see. What your "IT Guy" did was use an illegitimate activation scheme used to pirate Windows 10. And his methods to pirate Windows 10 have now failed on your computer. You say you have an HP computer - so probably bought at retail? Run Showkey Plus from our forum:
    ShowKeyPlus

When you run the program, you can just click on the product keys provided to obscure them so that you can post a screenshot of the result here. What showkey plus should show us is which version of Windows your computer came with from the factory, and then we can proceed to get you a non-pirated and legitimate activation from there. Please fire your "IT Guy" and find someone reputable to work on your computers in the future. The guy you have now is a crook.

NOTE: click on the edit post button in the lower right corner of your post. Then scroll down a bit and you will see a button for manage attachments. I see your attachment issue now! Also, I sent a note to forum administrator, they should also take care of it for you.
