WAU Manager says "Install in Progress" days later ?

Cumulative updates (for 2004) 2020-10, 202-11 and 2020-12 all state "Install in Progress" in update history.

On the other hand, WAU Manager also says "You're up to Date" !

That's all very strange - any ideas what it means please ?

This is normal behavior for WAU Manager. "When" you are actually installing the updates, you will get a successful or not successful response.
But when you look at the list of installed updates, some will report as still installing. Just disregard this.

You can double check which are actually installed via WU, Programs and Features, or by opening Powershell as Admin and typing: get-hotfix.

Thank you Ghot, that's good to know.
For info, I only got this laptop at the end of October and I am new to Windows 10.

Programs and Features lists 10 updates, 4 of which were installed more than 5 months before I bought the laptop.

WAU Manager lists 38 updates, 4 of which were only 1 month before purchase and not the same 4 as above.

About 30 of the 38 are not MS, so are presumably drivers, and I'm guessing there's nothing to worry about ?

One big puzzle though : The Uninstall updates page in WAU Manager states "There are no updates installed!"

Is there an explanation for this ? Thanks again.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks Paul but crikey, there's a lot to get through !

I have studied some of the tutorials and even saved parts of them but many questions still remain.

I have been using computers for over 40 years, retired 20 years ago from highly technical work, I am by no means senile yet, but I never dreamt that Windows 10 would be so demanding.

How on earth do lay folk cope ?

Would you sight my latest post in my other thread about system image etc, thanks.

Many thanks Matthew for your reply.
I have followed your link and have seen most of the content before.
I have turned off WAU Manager for now as I found it confusing.
I have found that repeatedly using "Pause updates for 7 more days" in Settings has worked but I am not sure for how long it will continue to do so.
I will re-enable the updates when I am feeling lucky ! Hopefully, later this week.
But I am considering using the tutorial to disable driver updates as I don't believe they are needed if everything is already working OK.

Driver updates can be hidden via Windows Update MiniTool.

From 20H2, MS says driver updates will no longer be applied automatically- they are then treated as optional updates.
Attempts to update from the Device Manager will no longer work.

Therefore there should then be no need to disable driver updates.

Don't use Windows 10's 'Optional Updates' if you want a stable system

Turn On or Off Device Driver Automatic Installation in Windows 10
UPDATE 2/19/2020: Windows 10 driver updates will now be manual Optional Updates

Beginning with the August 2020 security update for Windows 10, when optional updates are detected by your device, they will be displayed on a new page under Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View optional updates. That means you no longer need to utilize Device Manager to search for updated drivers for specific devices.

The following drivers were installed automatically on 20H2.
