    Cannot uninstall enablement package (KB4562830)

    Hello,
I'm trying to uninstall Feature Update to Windows 10 20H2 Enablement Package (KB4562830) but I get a message reading "An error has occurred. Not all of the updates were successfully uninstalled" I'm trying to uninstall it because my computer won't update and I read here that uninstalling that update would help. I read a previous post about the problem here as well but it really wasn't very helpful. I'm running windows 10 build 19042.630. Any help would be much appreciated. :)

Hi, in what way won't it update?

Please provide screenshot & text of error message and number if any, and the result of running the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

    Have you..
    - been using a VPN?
    - ever disabled Windows Update by any means?
    - used a group policy related to Windows Update?

Do you see a red message on the Settings screen for Windows Update such as
'Some settings are managed by your organisation'?

Are you using a metered connection?

When did it last update successfully? With which build was that?
Do any other PCs using the same connection update successfully?

    Possible options:
Reset Windows Update in Windows 10

Get Tweaking.com's free repair tool, and choose only the relevant repair option - for Windows Update

Perform an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data

    Hello,
Thank you very much for taking the time to help out! Here are my answers to your questions.

I have run the Windows Update Troubleshooter and it indicated no issues.

    - been using a VPN? Yes, I live in South Korea and use it for U.S. Netflix.
    - ever disabled Windows Update by any means? I postponed but not disabled updates because it wouldn't update
    - used a group policy related to Windows Update? No

Do you see a red message on the Settings screen for Windows Update such as 'Some settings are managed by your organisation'? No

Are you using a metered connection? No

When did it last update successfully? With which build was that? The current build which is: build 19042.630
Do any other PCs using the same connection update successfully? Yes

Get Tweaking.com's free repair tool, and choose only the relevant repair option - for Windows Update Actually, I did this too after searching this forum.

Perform an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data. I tried this but this option won't let me keep my programs and data, it removes everything. Which is unacceptable.

When i try to update I get this message: Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80073712)

I read in this forum that if I uninstall enablement package (KB4562830) I could downgrade to a previous windows version but for some reason it won't uninstall.

This was a known bug and was solved by a later update- which alas you can't get.

However a fix was found for that problem.
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
If you read before and around there...

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
    Build 19042.662 allows repair install.

    Fixes the in-place upgrade (repair install) issue: KB4586853 CU Windows 10 v2004 build 19041.661 and v20H2 19042.661

    https://blog.pcrisk.com/windows/12648-how-to-fix-windows-update-error-code-0x80073712

Regarding your error number- indicates incomplete download or other file corruption.

Uninstalling the enablement package is no guarantee of fixing this. The enablement package doesn't make the same major changes of upgrading to, say, build 2004.

If no other fixes work, then using the fix to enable an in-place upgrade repair install would seem the way forward.
@Ztruker - could you provide help with the fix to allow an in-place upgrade repair here please? Thanks!

I actually ran the Ztruker .bat file but it flickered and bounced around on my screen. I had a lot of trouble closing it. I have a HD screen (3840 x 2160) and sometimes I run into compatibility problems so I changed to 1920x1080 resolution but it still gave me the same issues.

I suggest you wait for ztruker or someone who's actually used it to advise.. hopefully that may happen.

Otherwise, do you have options of either using a system restore point or restoring a disk image (e.g. Macrium Reflect)?

That is why my post was specifically addressed to dalchina.

The thread I posted [ the actual member ] used that .bat file for their specific problem followed by further processes. I was basically asking dalchina if that was the reference he was commenting on!

I also suggest that you wait for ztruker to advise on this.

No options with System restore or Macrium Reflect. Will wait for advice from ztruker.
