    Update 2004 - Black screen?

    Hello
I was on 190x and decided to update to 2004. After a couple of hours I returned to my desktop and find a black screen?
Tried alt/cntrl/delete and no go. So I did a forced power shut down.
Can I get some help please?
PS I am typing this from my tablet.

Hi, is your PC now at all bootable?

As has been documented here many times, sometimes upgrades can take hours- ideally an hour or so. Sometimes patience is required.

I note you've been here a member for some time, so hopefully you will have created a disk image before upgrading.
If so, and if your PC is now unbootable, and you've used e.g. Macrium Reflect, use its bootable medium to boot your PC and thus restore your disk image of Windows.

If your PC is now unbootable and you haven't adopted the so very oft-repeated recommendation to use disk imaging, then you will need to perform a clean install. Lesson learnt.

Before doing so, make sure you rescue any data on C: you've not backed up.

Tutorial available for performing a clean install, which by default would give you build 20H2.

You can of course attempt to boot your PC from a Win 10 install disk and run e.g. Startup Repair in the hope something might work out for you.

Thanks Dalchina for your quick reply.
Yes I have MR images thanks to you guys.

So I just powered up and logged in as usual (not using MR Boot) and after a black screen appeared briefly I was able to log in.
I am now typing from my desktop. So all good.

That black screen had me worried!

Great- now check your build, then if you reattempt the upgrade, this time do it without accepting updates - if you get as far as that prompt. You can check for updates when successful.

Make sure you have at least 30Gb free on C:
