    download error 0x80070643 | failed updates for programs I don't have


    Windows Version 2004 (OS Build 19041.630)

    I didn't know whether to post this here or in general help...

    I have had this problem for literal years and I have searched all over for a solution, to no avail.

    I had a messy uninstall of Microsoft Office 2010 and all the programs that come with it; it left a lot of residue on my PC like registry entries and files etc. I had to use a program called Wise Program Uninstaller to get rid of all the leftover stuff. A very irritating side-effect of this messy uninstall is that Windows Updates leave the image shown. I cannot possibly have updates for programs I don't have installed!

    Can anyone help me fix this? You would be a hero and have my eternal gratitude!download error 0x80070643 | failed updates for programs I don't have-failed-security-updates.png

    Hello, there is an MS uninstall tool which may help: Option 2.

    Otherwise you can reinstall 2010 (counter-intuitive) but this time monitor the installation with a program such as Revo Uninstaller (Pro version, not free). Wise uninstaller (free) provides forced uninstalling, but not monitoring.

    Then uninstall the monitored installatioin using Revo.
