SERIOUS PROBLEM: How to check if Windows 10 Update was successful?

    Hi all,

I did some searching and I couldn't find an answer...

I was wanting to reboot my Windows 10 PC right now and allow it to finish installing the "Windows 10 November 2020 Cumulative Update" but it seems like we had a power failure during the night so the Windows 10 PC has updated itself.

Since I didn't reboot it myself I'm VERY worried that the "Windows 10 November 2020 Cumulative Update" didn't install successfully.

How can I check that the "Windows 10 November 2020 Cumulative Update" installed successfully?

I'm really desperate for some help.

    Thank you.

You can view update history in settings - update and security. It will show what's been installed and the date.

    Thanks Fabler2!

I just checked and it says:
"2020-11 Cumulative Update For Windows 10....
    Successfully installed on 4/12/2020"

But is there another way for me to check just as a way to "double check" that the update was installed?

I'm worried about this because the power went out during the night...

Open the old control panel then 'programs and features' and 'view installed updates' located near top left.

    Hello @NiceAndShy,

In a cmd prompt, type the following and press <Enter> . . .
    Code:
    wmic qfe | find “KBNumber”
. . . without the KB part. So for example, if the KB number was KB123456, just use 123456 between the quotes.

    I hope this helps.

As the power went out, and I'm assuming you are concerned because your PC was switched on, you can run

    chkdsk X: /scan
from an admin command or Powershell prompt for each disk or partition, changing X appropriately.

For your system disk, similarly run
    SFC /SCANNOW

You can also check your disks e.g. using Crystal Diskinfo.

    @NiceAndShy

Open Powershell as admin and type: Get-hotfix

    Some additional methods to check:

    Run:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...rade/setupdiag

LOGS.bat - Click here to go to the BSOD batch repository to download and run this batch file.

Also plan to upgrade after Tuesday December 8, 2020 (patch Tuesday).

I really appreciate all of your replies!!!

    EDIT:

I forgot to ask how important the new Windows 10 Version 20H2 is? I'm just concerned with security and stability of my Windows 10 PC.

I asked in another thread, but I didn't get much response.
