CANNOT uninstall the Enablement Package (KB4517245) to turn off all 19

VERSION 1909 (OS BUILD 18363.1139) CURRENT
"TRYING TO GET A BETTER "ADVANCED" OLD-FASHIONED SEARCH FUNCTION IN THE RIBBON BY UNINSTALLING THIS UPDATE, BUT CANNOT uninstall the Enablement Package (KB4517245) to turn off all 1909 features and drop back from build 18363 to 18362. IT WAS INSTALLED 11/8/2019, BEFORE PURCHASE.VERSION 1909 (OS BUILD 18363.1139). I SELECT IT FROM INSTALLED UPDATES, BUT NOTHING HAPPENS, NO RIGHT CLICK "UNINSTALL UPDATE" OR ANYTHING!

TRYING TO ALSO INCLUDE FOLLOWING IN MY LOGIC TO WANT TO DO THIS, AS I MISS VIEWING WHAT I AM SEARCHING FOR AS I TYPE IT, MODIFYING SEARCH DELIMITERS, ETC... I'VE BEEN TRYING TO WIDDLE THIS LAPTOP DOWN TO WINDOWS 7 LEVEL SINCE I GOT IT, IT ALSO HAS NO STORAGE CAPACITY AND JUST A DORKY OS & LAPTOP BEING USED TO REACH OUT AFTER DELL 8700 (WINDOWS 7, USED FOR GRAPHICS) MELT-DOWN DRAMA DURING COVID19. THINKING I DON'T HAVE A "PREVIOUS BUILD", RIGHT?

'SINCE BOTH FEXP & CORTANA USE SEARCH, AND IN BLD 1909 CORTANA WAS SEP FROM FEXP, IF I REVERT TO PREVIOUS BLD HOW WILL CORTANA BE AFFECTED?" someone asked in post link below. I've been trying to disable cortana, edge, all apps, etc . . . so mine are disabled (can't uninstall either); on verge of setting my account to log in without MS account, but I'm afraid . . . ANYWAY & ALSO, I ALWAYS KEEP CORTANA DISABLED. SHOULD I RESET MY ACCOUNT TO LOCAL LOGIN RATHER THAN MS ACCOUNT TO LOG IN? ALSO, I WANT MY HELP FILES LOCALLY AND DON'T WANT AN INTERNET HELP ASSISTANT, BUT THAT'S ANOTHER STORY (FINALLY REPLACED FRIED DELL 8700 W 7 WITH NEW THING ALSO W10 PRO, SO HAVE TO DUPE MUCH OF THESE MSAPPSTORE FACELIFTS,ETC!)

    COMMENTS/POSTS THAT STARTED MY THINKING:
Advance search missing in File Explorer after update to windows version 1909

Where is the advanced search in the 1909 version of File Explorer. I search using date modified ( today, yesterday, past 7 days......). It doesn't seem to be in 1909 version I updated on Feb 5th 2020 - A comment of the new File Explorer (Yucky) having to click the arrow key to start a search. One more keystroke than older version.

1909 way to go back to old search in explorer?

Only once you do a search, will the Search Tab appear in the Ribbon Menu and then under 'Recent searches' there's a drop down with the 'Clear search history' option.

And you are not alone in seeing serious issues with 1909's explorer search changes.

Only by going back to 1903. Fortunately, if you upgraded to 1909 from 1903, this is simple. Just uninstall the Enablement Package KB4517245 in 'Windows Update > View update history > Uninstall updates'. If you clean-installed 1909 the Enablement Package cannot be uninstalled.

(My 'Hey Cortana' was apparently already switched off. Since I don't use an MS a count to log in, I never bothered to check.) COMMENT 35 Can't perform advanced search in Windows 1909 file Explorer

Hi, using all caps is regarded as shouting by some, and is certainly hard to read.

Best approach to Cortana: don't get wound up about it. Leave the poor thing alone and it shouldn't bother you. In current builds it's now a separate app altogether. You can do more harm than good.

Two things lost from the latest implementation of Windows search as I understand a continually changing scenario:
    a. the drop-down calendar that used to appear is gone
    b. there is no blue highlighting of correctly formed syntax typed in the search bar in file explorer, which was a valuable guide.
This was last available in build 1903.

You are correct that MS messed this up badly in the early releases of 1909. Changes continued in 2004.

Try the following to uninstall KB4517245 -

Open an elevated Command prompt and run this command in the format -

    Enter wusa /uninstall /KB:kb number

    Example -

    wusa /uninstall /KB:4517245

    To disable Cortana -

Boot into the Repair environment -

From the Command prompt, run the following -

    move C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy.000

Cortana and SearchUI.exe don't start, but several Critical DCOM errors thrown because Windows can't find them.

    Add a registry key -

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search]
    "AllowCortana"=dword:00000000

Cortana and SearchUI.exe still start but go into Suspend immediately.

Create a System Restore point first before making any changes.
