Now, it's trying to update it...THREE TIMES a day???

    MS Printer v6.1.7233.1 update fails...every day...but shows success?-printer-driver-fiasco.jpg

It'd be really nice to be able to SELECT this update and tell MS to STOP TRYING.

    Seriously...more again today.

How does a customer force Win10 to stop trying an update like this???

I recently started getting this update notification as well. I found something on another forum which tells you how to disable this update.

The next time that update appears in the list, download the tool from the link below, run that, in the list of pending updates, select that update and click 'Hide' that will stop windows from attempting to install it:

    http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f22d5fdb-59cd-4275-8c95-1be17bf70b21/wushowhide.diagcab

I did not wait for the update to appear and ran it anyway and sure enough it found the printer update and I set it to hide. We will see in time if it works or not.

    Hope this helps.

    @amdew,

Sorry for the delay. I ran that troubleshooter and, indeed, it seems to have done the trick! Thank you.

    Now...there are several questions:
    1. Why did Win10 even try to get that update?
    2. Why was it impossible for me to see that update in the queue?
    3. Why was the Update Troubleshooter unable to fix the problem?
    4. Why was the Update Troubleshooter unable to run the "hide an update" function that the wushowhide does?

Regardless, I think this may have fixed it. I'll give it another day or two and then mark this solved if so.

    Thanks!

I am seeing the same problem as OP iamc3k. Windows repeatedly wants to install Microsoft Printer - 6/22/2006 12:00:00AM - 6.1.7233.1, which it reported as "Successfully installed" on multiple occasions already. This has been happening for over a month. Running an updated Windows 10 version 20H2, OS build 19042.662, on a Dell laptop. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks!
I've been having this ridiculous problem for quite some time too. I don't run Malwarebytes. Has anyone found a solution that works? In my case, it installs, and if I immediately after check for updates, it reappears briefly and then disappears. The next day, it appears again and stays till "installed" again.

As an alternative option to try, you could always one of these . . .

    > How to Delete Pending Updates on Windows 10
    > How to delete Downloaded, Failed & Pending Windows Updates
    > How to Reset Windows Update in Windows 10

    I hope this helps.
