    Some Feature Update 20H2 problems

A friend contacted me about some issues he's having after the 20H2 update.
    • Windows Live Mail now asks for a password when it opens
    • Not playing nice with Outlook and his Apple calendar...("we don’t recognize the files")

I told him to restore a disk image (hopefully he did that before the update). But now wondering if there might be a relatively easy fix.

Also, if you uninstall the update, will that correct these kinds of problems, or would he just be spinning his wheels? (The option to Roll Back is greyed out in the 20H2 settings, probably because of the Enablement Package type install)

There's no Roll Back because there was no Windows.old created. To go back to 2004 you just uninstall the KB4562830 enablement package in Control Panel > Programs and Features > Installed Updates.

    Thanks Bree
I think he is all set now. Apple had an update and the rest was handled by settings.
But for my information, do you know if when you uninstall the update that everything reverts back (like a System Restore Point)? Or do some changes linger?
I recall some problems like that being mentioned in the Known and Resolved thread for 20H2.

I recall some problems like that being mentioned in the Known and Resolved thread for 20H2.

It's not like a system restore, it runs the installer again to undo the changes it made. Unlike a system restore it will not undo all changes, only those that specifically enable 20H2. I had not tried it in 20H2, but I have previously tested uninstalling the 1909 enablement package without issue.

An additional complication is that the 20H2 enablement package does more than just enable the dormant 20H2 features. It also updates Legacy Edge to Chromium Edge (if that has not already been done, either by the user's choice or by Windows Update).

I have now tested uninstalling the 20H2 enablement package. It appears to revert to 2004 without issues, at least as far as my minimal testing could show. However, if you had Legacy Edge before the enablement package was installed, then uninstalling it will NOT uninstall Chromium Edge. This is consistent with updating to Chromium Edge by other methods, you cannot uninstall it after Windows Update installs it either.
