Running Windows 10 pro 20H2 version 19042.630
I wound up having to back out KB4586853 as my AllData Automotive Service software would no longer run after it installed. Once backed out it was fine. Now I come home today, and it is ready to reboot to install it again. I can install then back it out again, but I need a way to block it, or find out what it updates or installs that is killing my $2500.00 software package from runnning.

KB4586853 is an Insider preview update, and as such bugs are to be expected - finding them is the purpose of the Insider program. 19042.630 is the current publicly release build.

If KB4586853 is being delivered to you automatically by Windows Update then that could only happen if your machine has joined the Insider program. If that's the case all you need to do is roll back to the current public build 19042.630, then leave the Insider program.

It would also be a good idea to contact AllData Automotive Service's software support and inform them of the problem so that they can update their software before this Insider update becomes a public update, as may well happen next month..

Unfortunately, no. the process starts in task manager, I get the cursor spinning for about 3-4 seconds, then the process just dies. Never opens anything on the display. If I back the update out, it fires up and works just fine.
Just uninstalled it and set the toggle to opt out of the preview updates. We'll see what happens. Emailed AllData technical support as well. See if they have any tools to debug and see what is actually happening.
Very sensible. You should never run Insider builds on a production machine that you rely on for work, even the release preview ring such as this update was in. There's always the risk it may have bugs. The real test will be on 'Patch Tuesday' (8th Dec.) when the next retail cumulative update is released. It will contain some or all of the patches that were in this Insider build and that MS think have been passed by the Insider testing.
Another sensible precaution is to regularly make a system image to an external HDD, that way you can restore a known working system rather than having to roll back updates. Macrium Reflect (Free or paid for) is used by many here.
