    Optional Features

    Hi,

Does anyone know whether Windows ver.2004 supports in the Optional Features window .NET Framework 4.8 Advanced Service ? When I open Windows Feature window nothing gets populated there.
I tried to exercise command: dism /online /Get-capabilities and the result is a number of features that I could find in
Optional Features list but among them I could not see .NET Framework. I know that .NET Framework is installed among
    Windows system files.
    My OS version is 10.0.19041.329.

    Regards

You are 5 months behind in your Windows version level updates (monthly cumulative). You are at 19041.329 and current is 19041.630. Check your Option Updates for the latest cumulative in Settings>Updates and Security. The .Net updates generally are seperate from the version cumulatives, but are level dependent. Meaning some .Net updates you will not get if the level is behind, as is your case. Give that a try to see if you get the Net 4.8 you're looking for.

I cannot install more any next cumulative updates on my machine because the response is it is not applicable to my PC.
I tried any available means to check this issue: 1. running RestoreHealth, 2. In-place repair of Windows 10 using ISO file,
    3. Windows Update Troubleshooter. I did not try only the Clean Install of Windows because that requires to reinstall all my apps.
Optional Features windows does not get populated with the optional features, it stays blank.

Looking at your specs, I did some brief Googling on a Dell 9100. I'm surprised you have 19041 anything running, but it's possible. You may have hit a brick wall with what it can run.

You can also get Windows Updates manually from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

An easy way to find out what your missing is to download and install the free tool Belarc Advisor.

    Products: Belarc Advisor

The list of missing updates will show up with clickable links, which will take you to the Microsoft support page for that update.

There you'll find different options for getting the update, including the Microsoft Update Catalog.

It will also provide a direct link to the update in the catalog. Then, you need to pick your current version (2004, 20H2) and "bitness" (x86, x64).

Note that when you update this way, you may need to install the Servicing Stack Update. Windows Update does this automatically.

Look for this on the MS support page (example for the update to 19041.630) -

    Before installing this update

Microsoft strongly recommends you install the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system before installing the latest cumulative update (LCU). SSUs improve the reliability of the update process to mitigate potential issues while installing the LCU and applying Microsoft security fixes. For general information about SSUs, see Servicing stack updates and Servicing Stack Updates (SSU): Frequently Asked Questions.

If you are using Windows Update, the latest SSU (KB4586864) will be offered to you automatically. To get the standalone package for the latest SSU, search for it in the Microsoft Update Catalog.

I'm using 20H1, and have the 4.8 Framework Advanced Services installed.

How much RAM does your PC have? It is recommended to uninstall all 3rd party firewall, antivirus, and VPN software. Did you uninstall Norton 360 before in-place-upgrade?
