    Can't go back to default Windows Update & Security settings

    Hi guys,
    I'm running Windows 10 Pro 1909 18363.1082.
    In the past months I modified my group policy and then I used WuMgr to manage my updates.
    Now I would like to go back to the defaults but even if I tried Ten Forums' "Notify_before_Downloading_and_Installing_Updates.reg" and disabled WuMgr, my Update and Security settings page doesn't show for example "Check for updates".

    I also tried using WAU Manager: it finds, downloads and installs Win 20H2, suggests to reboot but the reboot takes just a few seconds, nothing showing an update appears on screen and my Windows version remains the same.

    I don't know if it's something related to this update problems, but my PC doesn't restart when choosing so from the Power options, it just shuts down.

    Any help would be really appreciated!

    Thank you and ciao from Italy!
    Matteo

    Download Winaero Tweaker

    Check, if Windows Update is not hidden. If not, Select "Show only selected" and select all Settings.

    @Dolphin975

    The same thing happened to me, though I was using Sledgehammer and running WuMgr from it. Eventually I "bit the bullet" and restored my latest image from Macrium Reflect, which unfortunately was a month old. That required a bit of post-restore tweaking (NBD); thus am now making more frequent images of my system drive.

    I also tried WAU Manager which didn't work for me; I learned here that it works for some systems and not on others.

    This is the first I've heard of "Winaero Tweaker" mentioned by @TairikuOkami. I'm going to add it to my bag of tricks and suggest you try that first.

    And, as many here recommend, regular system images are worth much more than time spent trying to repair an unexpected issue.

    Good Luck!
