Why does Windows update take up all of my internet?

Currently, it's supposedly updating the apps on my computer. And the internet is practically unusable. It used to be slow before, but now it's like impossible to use. I have the 10 megabyte internet, but I really have wanted to upgrade to a 100 megabyte internet. Would that help? Right now, I'm not even getting a half of a megabyte.

Also, it's been doing this for hours now.

Are you the only user on your router / modem?

If Updates are taking too much of your bandwidth:
Go to Settings / Windows Updates / Delivery Optimization and click on Advanced options. You can limit the bandwidth used for downloading updates there. Set a half of you internet bandwidth. It will take longer, but will let you do somethng in between.

Upgrading to 100 Mbit would certainly help

Too bad that the people that I live with don't want the 100 mbit internet for some reason.

So you have 10 Mbit, and sharing it with others. Maybe someone is using most of it. You could set some rules on the router

For Apps, you can turn off automatic updates in the Store's settings.

Turn On or Off Automatic Updates for Apps in Windows 10 Store

Right now, I'm the only one using it. And now I just got a message that I'm dangerously low on storage space. So, now what? I just updated to 2004 on Monday and the Windows old folder isn't going to be going away any time soon.

    Actually, you can delete Windows.old.

But first, check where is your storage space. I recommend Treesize free. It is a small app which will show you folders with the most space used

For deleting Windos.old. Go to Settings / System /Storage, and click on Temporary files. You can select there what is supposed to be cleaned (deleted)

I have another question for the people who are seeing this, why does my computer not have as much space on it now as it used to when I first got it? It used to have 30 gigabytes on it. And now even after deleting Windows old, I only have like half of that. Is it because of all of the other Windows versions? And that was after all the first time that Windows old was deleted by my computer. And I didn't add anything else to my computer since then. Even though my games are probably to blame.

I would blame the games too Run Treesize and it will tell you where have your empty space go. 30 GB is not that much.
