Yesterday, after upgrade to 20H2, the 'View Optional Updates' appeared. I cliked on it and this appeared :

I have the system configured to NOT update automatically and 'Notify' me when updates are available.. Also, notice that some of these are years old. I am a 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' user. Also, if there was a problem and needed one of those, I am not savvy enough to know which is the one to grab.
What say the Gurus? -thx
Note what it says preceding the driver list. In part, "If you have a specific problem, one of these drivers might help."
So, like you say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I know that in my case, one of the proposed optional drivers actually breaks things for me.

Not unusual for build installs to reset some features.
The cause MAYBE and I can put it no stronger than that, your configuration for updates
IF automatic updates are chosen as is NOW the stronger recommendation than ever from Microsoft as from 2004
then you are offered the 20H2 based on compatibility of your system and a hold has been put on certain Intel based devices with Thunderbolt and NVME ability via the USB
I know your computer the Acer Predator Orion 9000 ( I am jealous by the way ) has NVME on the M2 slot, but I do not know if it has Thunderbolt ports
When you have updates NOT configured automatically, the hold is not placed on the 20H2
However whether that is the cause or NOT, I would agree as stated that it those optional updates are best left.
I do not know if you have found the differnces, but for instance System is not removed from Control Panel, just in case you think your CP has something missing.
If I find different I will of course post regarding those updates, but I am reasonably convinced the cause is as I have explained.

Hypothetical - IF a problem surfaces requiring the install of one of these will the machine issue a pop-up or something and identify the needed driver from the list?
On the link I sent you was this as aboveNote We recommend that you do not attempt to manually update using the Update now button
I do not know if that is how you got 20H2
If it is I suggest you roll back OR if you prefer ensure you have a system image - if you do not already have one from 2004

I think ThrashZone was simply referring to my note regarding chnages and my specific mention of Control panel

which of course Microsoft have said for sometime they intend to deprecate it when all that is now in CP is in settings, as system is and of course apps uninstall has been for sometime.Not unusual for build installs to reset some features.
Good luck with it , I just wonder if you have realised the implications of not having automatic updates
The clue is in your screensnip on your opening post.
Otherwise automatic updates will keep your drivers up to date
