Why is the 2004 update suddenly downloading and installing right now?

I was told that I didn't have to be worried about this at all. I am currently on 1909. And this wasn't supposed to happen. I heard that not only there were tons of problems with this update. But, there's a new update out now. What is going on? Can someone please help? I have Home.

Windows 10 decided that your computer didn't apply to the safeguards put in place. Don't worry the update is only downloading because the issues don't seem to apply to your computer. Yes 20H2 or 2009 update is out. It has mostly the same issues too. If need to, you can rollback your computer to 1909.

I hope what you're saying is true. I'm just wondering, what will happen if I want to wait to install it but I chose a date after Patch Tuesday? Will it skip the updates from that day, or what?

it will still download those patch Tuesday updates.

Will the 2004 update install while the Patch Tuesday updates install, or will it only download and install the updates for 1909?

The patch Tuesday updates for 1909 will install first. Then when 2004 installs it will install the patch Tuesday updates for 2004.

Sorry that this is a late reply, so, it will download both the updates for 1909 and then it will install the 2004 update at the same time? Even though I have the 2004 update set to install on a later date than that?

No if your running 1909 or 1903 right now it will download those patch Tuesday updates while windows 10 2004 is still downloading. Then the 2004 update will install the patch Tuesday updates.

So, I will get the 2004 update on Tuesday even though I told it to install next Thursday instead of Tuesday? Is that what you're trying to tell me? Because, I couldn't really understand what you're saying. Sorry.

I don’t understand. You told it to install on Tuesday? It will install on Tuesday if you told it to.
