Why is 2004 suddenly downloading and installing on my computer?

I was told that I didn't have to be worried about this at all. I am currently on 1909. And this wasn't supposed to happen. I heard that not only there were tons of problems with this update. But, there's a new update out now. What is going on? Can someone please help?

This is how it's supposed to work:
Microsoft Abandons Windows 10’s Constant Forced Updates

Did you perhaps manually check for Windows updates?

As with everything MS changes and introduces, be prepared for something not to be quite perfect. Or worse.

You have two possible routes back to 1909 if you need to:
    a. Within 10 days of upgrading (extendable to 60) you can roll back
    b. Restore a disk image of 1909 - assuming you use disk imaging routinely as is tirelessle recommended here (Macrium Reflect free-paid + external storag for image files e.g.)

Some are happy with 2004- you can read all about it in the articles on that build in the News section here, plus user comments following with more issues noted. And generally e.g. Google
    problems Windows 2004

If you have Pro you have more features to control updates- if you don't, there are 3rd party utilities that block WU and let you scan manually. Many discussions here, and see tutorial on disabling automatic updates.

I did not check for any updates. It did it by itself.

I did not check for any updates. It did it by itself. Though, it does install the regular Patch Tuesday updates by itself too though. If that has anything to do with this. It did all of this by itself with no input from me whatsoever.

I read the article and I was updated to 1909 last December which was less than 18 months ago.

Do you think that this was a bug or something else? I've scheduled to install it next Thursday which is when I'll actually have time to install it. And what is going to happen to me on Patch Tuesday? Will the update install then or will it still follow the scheduled date?

Sorry, if that's too many questions at once.
