Windows Enterprise keeps downgrading to Pro randomly
Hello, first time poster (long time reader) here.
I am having a problem with Windows 10 Enterprise activation.
We have around 50 users on "Windows 10 Enterprise E3" license in our Microsoft Portal. When a user gets a licens it takes a couple of days (and reboots) and their Windows 10 Pro will upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise. So far, so good.
But every now and then, random users will be downgraded to Pro and it's quite annoying since DirectAccess will stop working. Then, after a week or two, they will be upgraded again.
I can't find any information at all how to manually start the upgrade process. I can live with the downgrade if I know how to quickly start the upgrade.
I've been troubleshooting this a lot but now I'm stuck and need som help.
The following applies:
Tried reboot (of course)
We are running a Hybrid AD/ADD enviroment.
Since we do not have a Windows 10 Enterprise product key we cannot manually enter a key in Windows. I do not want to use the generic key since windows don't get activated.
The users computers are registered under Devices in Azure. Type: Hybrid Azure AD joined
No Windows update has been applied at the time it downgrades.
Windows update does not help upgrading.
Happens on versions 1909, 2004, 20H2.
Tried logging the user off and on all Microsoft portals (Office365, Azure, etc).
Workplace account is correctly registered in Windows settings -> app accounts
Tried removing and adding the Windows 10 Enterprise E3 licens in https://admin.microsoft.com
Does anyone have any idea what to check or what to do (or who to contact) ?
I will gladly supply more information, just ask.
Thank you.
