    Window Update problem.

    Hi
As a person of habit I regularly (almost daily) check Settings - Update and Security for
any updates if available. System Win 10 Pro version 2004 OS Build 19041.572

Yesterday I noticed Left Column contained all items from Windows Update to Windows Insider Program.

All items were displayed in Right Column as usual except Windows Update which was empty except for scrolling dots searching for an update. Eventually it finished scrolling and advised: an error has occurred - please try again later.

I did a backup (Macrium) on 28th Oct 2020 and it turns out when image restored contained the same problem.

Tried in situ install of Win 10 version 2004 which fixed the issue but created another problem.

The new problem was on computer start/restart desktop displayed a warning which was basically advising that the link to
    C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.10.7.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe
could not be accessed or was corrupt.

The top 2 items in attached screenshot are indeed corrupted as displayed in Screenshot 2.

    I would appreciate assistance/advice to:
    1. Restore Windows Update so that it functions correctly and display items in Right Hand Column.

    2. As shown the top 2 items are corrupt in the Screenshots and I am advised to delete and create a new one.
How do I delete and create a new one?

Open an elevated Command prompt (Run as administrator) and run the following command -

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Failing that, download and run Revo Uninstaller Portable to uninstall Flight Simulator, and then re-install.

Many thanks for your response but unfortunately your suggestions did not work.
I have managed to get item 1 (Windows Update) problem fixed by redoing an in situ
    install of Windows 10.

I am still working on 2nd problem. Uninstalled Microsoft Flight simulator and reinstalled (107 gig) but
    problem as displayed still exists.

Any further assistance/advice would be appreciated. Failing that a full restore will be required and
I am not looking forward to that.

Revo Uninstaller has a scan option for leftover registry items and files...after it completes the uninstall step.

Make sure you run that as well.

I always use IObit Uninstaller. After uninstall of MSFS I thoroughly checked manually in the
Registry for any leftovers that might have been missed.

I actually followed step by step in this video:

Fix Win32Bridge.Server.exe Startup Error on Windows 10 - YouTube

Problem still remained but somehow I have fixed the problem and quickly created another image.

What I did was that I deleted the offending folder in Program Files - Windows Apps and saved in another location
(C : Downloads) and then rebooted. The problem disappeared and so did the saved folder.
Don't know why it disappeared. That folder also had Cortana items in there also. I have never used Cortana
so as everything is now working I can live without that folder.

Again thanks for your advice. Appreciated.

That can be a recipe for disaster.

As mentioned, I would use Revo...or Geek Uninstaller.

Both will scan for leftover registry entries and files for you.

Cortana is now an app in Windows 10 2004, and can be uninstalled.

I personally would not use IObit anything anymore.
