    WU Appears To Be Upset...

I have WU paused until 12/22/2020 via the pause button on the WU page. Now, whenever I launch Settings, There is a message across the top of the Home page that says WU needs attention. I have not done the October "B" update, so I guess that's what set it off. I haven't decided to wait for the November updates to be validated or turn WU loose right before. The message is the first time I've seen it. Not a problem, just thought it was new.

    Looks like this?

It's the banner across the top of the Settings home page that's new, and just pausing updates is sufficient to get the 'Attention needed' message, even if you were fully up to date. When un-paused it will look like this.

That be it. I had just not seen it before today. The last update was on 08/19/2020 when I had WU do the update to v.2004 and WU has been paused since then. I wonder why it just started showing up now?

Microsoft have been testing it on and off for some time in the Insiders builds. Seems they've decided to roll it out to the general public now. It's not part of the Windows Updates, seems to be turned on separately from that. There's (a lot) more about it in this thread.

    Redesigned Settings Page?

Bree, thanks for the link. I missed that one and my fail for not searching before I posted. I find it a bit disconcerting that the banner was enabled w/o any update, but then I’ve found other things that have silently gotten changed in Windows before. Take care.

10/30/2020: After a WU update, the heading banner has disappeared, even with WU paused.

11/03/2020: The heading banner comes and goes from day to day. WU still paused until 12/04/2020.
