WU wants to update my printer driver - need to stop it

Running W10 Home level 1909. Some months ago WU installed a backlevel HP driver for my HP printer, and that caused me trouble. Now WU is again trying to install the same backlevel HP driver. How do I delete the WU update to my HP printer driver software? See attached wu.png picture of the WU page.

    Hello @cwr64,
Just ignore it unless you have problems. M$ has been doing crazy shit like suggesting people install older drivers than they have recently.

    Wu - 1909-2004-20h2

My level is 1909 18363.1139. OK - based on your reply and the MS info you linked me to, is there no way to NOT have WU replace my current HP printer driver with the backlevel driver software (why is WU sending me a backlevel driver - which is MANY years old), I will have to stop allowing WU to install both MS and non-MS drivers - correct? I am running W10 Home (not Pro) and I am not part or any insider program. On my Windows Update panel there appears to be no way to disable updates of drivers.
I have attached files WU2.png and WU3.png that show my WU options. Is there no easy way for me to get rid of this problem?

The tutorial posted above shows you how to disable driver updates being offered and installed by Windows Update.

    Use "Option 2".

I blocked this update with the "Show/Hide" tool and after a couple of days, it disappeared without installing.

remove HP Printer Driver from WU

So I ran the show/hide thing and expected to have to click to make the HP Printer Driver a hidden update. Instead, the show/hide said there was nothing in the list. Hmmm. Now the WU screen no longer shows the HP Printer Driver at all, and the list of WU updates that have been applied does show that the update was applied on 10/21. I did not select this update to go on my system. And I certainly do NOT know why MS continues to distribute this very old and obsolete HP driver.

If it's still causing problems, start Device Manager, expand "Printers", right-click the printer, select "Update driver", click "Browse my computer for drivers", then "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer". If the original driver is shown, click on it, then click "Next". You may have to restart the computer for the change to take effect. Then try the "Show/Hide" tool to keep it from happening again.

I wish HP would get MS to replace the old old obsolete driver with the current driver. This problem also occurred many months ago.

This is what worked for me a few years ago.

I don’t recall if I did this in exact or opposite order.
Either way, restart the PC upon completion.

Go to Settings\Devices\Printers and Scanners to determine if the printer drivers are managed by Windows or the printer’s manufacturer.

You will see Let Windows manage my default printer. If it’s checked, Windows is managing your default printer.
Mine shows as unchecked because I do not want Windows to manage my default printer.

Then go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers
Ensure your default printer is checked so that HP is managing your default printer
    Mine shows
